- Does not include games vs. D1AA teams. They do nothing to show us the strength of a teams D1A opponents. D1ACF is concerned only with computing the strength of D1A teams so the D1ACF SOS simply skips D1AA. - SOS will use the win-loss record of opponents at 50% and win-loss record of opponents opponents at 50%. This allows a team that beats good competition to have a better SOS than a team that beats weak competition even if they have the same record. Clearly 11-1 USC is greater than 11-1 North Texas. - Fixed the problem of games vs. your opponent dropped and games vs. your opponent included. Games dropped example: pretend USC's 8 opponents were 30-26 after 7 games. The 03 BCS calculated it by dropping the games vs. opponents. By dropping those 7 losses to USC the teams now had a record of 30-19 making those teams look better than they actually were. All games included example: pretend LSU's opponents were 30-30, each time LSU beats a team LSU LOWERS their SOS buy adding one loss to opponents records 30-31, 30-32, 30-33, etc. Does LSU's schedule get easier if they beat an undefeated and then 1 loss Georgia 2 times? The answer is no.
